About Us
The idea for dimwitnot.com was conceived by a high school student in Northern
California. Vincent Leon was a peer tutor in the school tutoring program.
When the program was terminated, he sought to bring its benefits to a wider
audience. He and Victoria Leon and his team reviewed numerous tutoring
programs (online and offline). The benefits of peer tutoring, study halls
and social networking were combined into a unique service and dimwitnot.com
was born.
A big thank you goes to Vic Morris of The First Tee of Contra Costa for introducing us to Jim McGinley of Foresters. Special thanks goes to Jim McGinley and Jack Knellinger of Foresters, who sponsored and guided our project through Youth Venture which in turn provided us some seed money to start dimwitnot.com. An additional thank you and appreciation goes to George Buys of Talking Communities for his contribution in helping to turn our ideas into reality. Other thanks go to the Business Club at Diablo Valley College and the Business Selection Panel. Last, but not least, we thank our Mom and Dad for their encouragement and support of our venture and instilling in us the spirit of community service.
About the Founders
Vincent Leon (Co-Founder) is a senior in high school in Northern California.
Vincent is a Scholar Athlete and has been on the Boy's Varsity Golf Team
since his freshman year. He is also the Team Captain. Interested in helping
others academically, he was a peer tutor in his school's after-school
tutoring program. Vincent has also volunteered hundreds of hours for The
First Tee of Contra Costa and his home course's junior program. In 2007, he
attended The First Tee's National Leadership Academy. Vincent is a role
model for life skills, building of character and sportsmanship.
Victoria Leon (Co-Founder) is a junior in high school in Northern California.
Along with being a scholar, she has been a varsity member of the Girl's Golf
Team since her freshman year. During her freshman year, she was told that
she was too young to be a peer academic tutor in the tutoring program. That
didn't deter her from continuing as a volunteer. Victoria has also
volunteered hundreds of hours for The First Tee of Contra Costa and her home
course's junior program. She represented dimwitnot.com at the 2007 Global
Knowledge Forum (GK3) in Malaysia and was the youngest attendee. She also
represented the company at the 2008 Youth Venture Summit in Washington,
D.C.. In May, 2009, she will be a panelist at the SDF forum held in Palo
Alto, California. Victoria is a role model for young women everywhere with
her life skills, conduct and sportsmanship.
